Hello!
I don't know if this is the right place to ask.
What would you think about having a global MeshManager for Switzerland?
If some of us could instantiate some MeshMonitor instances in various areas of the country (we don't need too many),
then each MeshMonitor could act as a point of view of the mesh from its own location.
We could then aggregate the information into a single MeshManager.
This will allow us to view the mesh from multiple points of view, and also have an aggregated view.
I think this could be a great way to understand the mesh topology.
Also, we can activate only the MeshMonitor source we want in the global view to look at a specific point of view if needed.
At the moment, MeshManager is not 100% accurate in all the displayed information, but the developer is very active and tries to fix bugs in a quite timely manner :-)
So by the time we agree to implement something all together, I assume the MeshManager will already be a little bit more accurate.
In order to federate the MeshMonitors, each of them must be, somehow, exposed to the internet so the global MeshManager can query them.
Also, the security on the MeshMonitor side is well designed, so it is possible to expose only what we want to the MeshManager.
But this could be discussed later if we go further.
Also, the risk of having too many MeshMonitors would be to saturate the network with a tool that is supposed to help.
So if we go further in this direction, maybe people with a good understanding of the mesh could also provide guidance on recommended configs for MeshMonitor.
I believe that having such a tool publicly available to any of us seems like a good way for people to realize the amount of us, and the volume and type of packets that are traveling on the mesh.
What do you think ?
